We do not recommend using other stronger zip ties. Our ThinLine Reserve Zip-Ties are designed to break at the right time. In this way we cannot guarantee the safety of your horse.

How do you attach your Flexible Grazing Mask?
Watch this short 5-step video, and you'll understand in no time!
Step 1
Use the supplied paper tie-wraps or string to find the best holes to attach your grazing mask to your halter. The paper tie-wraps are a temporary aid that allows you to easily adjust the fit.
Step 2
Two of the “fins” have a triangular cutout. You attach these to the square (side) rings of your pasture halter. Connect three fins to the noseband, one in the middle, and the other two fall naturally to the sides of the center. Connect three fins to the chin strap; one in the center, two naturally on the sides of the center.
Step 3
First attach each fin with a triangular cutout with one of the included zip ties. Do not wrap the fins around the halter as this can cause chafing.
Step 4
When properly installed, the grazing bar should rest close to, but not against, the horse's nose. If the grazing mask touches the nose, lengthen the fins under the chin, this will lift the grazing mask off the nose.
Step 5
Once you are satisfied that you have the correct holes aligned with the halter, remove the paper tie-wraps or string and permanently secure the grazing mask with the zip ties provided. After you have found the best fit for your horse, cut the excess fin material just above the top hole being used.
It's okay to wait a day or two to make sure your grazing mask is a comfortable distance from your horse's mouth before clipping. The cable tie “holder” is on the outside of the grazing mask and the excess points downward and is cut off nearby.
If you have fitted the grazing mask properly and the grazing mask is the right size, it will work great. If you find there is too much grazing space, make sure your fins are securely attached to your halter. The fins should not move along the noseband; if so, tighten the cable tie.

The ties are very secure however when they are attached to the muzzle and halter you are unable to un-loosen them. Therefore if you make an error you can quickly run out of ties.

Takes a knack to get them tight enough / sitting flat enough through the halter webbing inserts but once I figured it out it was easy.

My chunky cob is currently injured so only turned out in a round pen for a few hours per day. The grazing muzzle is excellent at helping to keep his weight down, whilst still enjoying the grass. When he gets bored, to attract attention he rubs his muzzle on the wire pen and eventually breaks the zip ties – they are a safety feature and designed to break in these circumstances- which is why I have ordered some spares! Other horses on the livery yard have not broken ties as they don't rub their muzzles. This product is excellent and my vet was so impressed she took the details as not previously aware of this type of muzzle.

I have not need to use these yet but have bought them as spares just in case my horse happens to break one. The muzzle is amazing and I don't want to risk breaking it by using normal zip ties.
